We don’t have much to report today. We have completed our counter-clockwise circle around Iceland, and we are back in Ísafjörður where we started on June 2.

As we have learned from the ridiculous amount of traveling we do, there is a huge difference between vacationing aboard a cruise ship and living aboard a cruise ship. We have visited each of Viking’s Iceland ports many times and will do so again. In the meantime, we have lots of chores and business to take care of as we live aboard cruise ships.
As a result, neither of us ventured very far today. Gail didn’t leave the ship. Russell didn’t walk any farther than the end of the gangplank. There is a small Tourist Information hut where Russell (finally) found fast, free wi-fi. While there, he acted as tour guide for any guests who came in with questions.
Back aboard ship, right before Russell was due to begin his 4:30 pm lecture, the captain came over the loudspeaker with an announcement. Sadly, our itinerary has changed again.
After a sea day, we were due to visit two ports in Greenland. However, due to ice and weather conditions, Viking has to cancel both ports. As a consolation – and because so many guests are sailing specifically to see Greenland – we will visit a single alternate port.
We have already been warned that Paamiut is tiny and there is not much to do there. But it will enable guests to check “Greenland” off on their bucket lists.

Because we have an extra sea day on June 10, Russell will present an additional lecture. Fortunately, he has several “spares” available that are relevant to this region.
